President Obama wants to beat ISIS by fighting climate change

By Post Editorial Board

Worried about ISIS? Well, don’t — President Obama knows how to beat it: by fighting . . .climate change.
“What greater rejection of those who would tear down our world than marshaling our best efforts to save it?” Obama said Monday at the 12-day climate-change summit that began this week in Paris.

Indeed, the conference itself, he said, is an “act of defiance” against the terrorists who attacked the city just weeks ago. “We have come to Paris to show our resolve.”
Fine. But a real strategy for defeating ISIS terrorists — say, killing them — might be a bit more effective.
Sure, many scientists believe the planet’s temperature is on a long-term upward trajectory (though even there the science isn’t nearly as “settled” as climate-truthers claim).
But when it comes to what, if anything, should be done about it, no one can agree on any sensible ideas. Bjorn Lomborg, who’s written extensively about the issue, believes any carbon-cutting deal made in Paris “will likely reduce temperatures by just 0.3°F,” at most — while costing “at least $1 trillion every year for the rest of the century.”
He notes that “for 20 years, governments have tried to cut carbon emissions.” The result? “Two decades of failure with ever-increasing global emissions.”
Indeed, the summit itself is expected to spew some 300,000 tons of CO2 — with 189 tons from Obama’s flight alone.
Meanwhile, ISIS continues to grow, and much of the Middle East is aflame.
Hmm. Wonder how much that contributes to global warming . . .
